Products Description

A FINE FACSIMILE REPRODUCTION OF:

The Holy Bible Conteyning the Old Testament and the New: Newly Translated out of the Originall tongues: & with the former Translations diligently compared and reuised by his Maiesties speciall Commandment. Appointed to be read in Churches. Imprinted at London by Robert Barker Printer to the Kings most Excellent Maiestie. Anno Dom. 1611.

A photographic reproduction of the entire King James Bible as it originally appeared in the true first edition of 1611. King James appointed fifty-four translators to the task and thus the King James Bible is often referred to as the only great translation accomplished by Committee.

The King James Bible was not capable of immediately displacing the Geneva version in the hearts and souls of devout English laypersons. It would be several generations before the Geneva version was fully eclipsed and the splendid King James Version thoroughly adopted. But once the King James was embraced it held the hearts and souls of the faithful throughout the English-speaking world. without challenge until the 20th Century.

The King James Bible remains one of the most-printed and most-loved books in the history of the world and for millions of believers remains their Scripture of choice. To a great extent this translation continues to show the hand -- and the faith-- of William Tyndale whose solitary work is dominant throughout the King James Version and has never been excelled by subsequent translators whether working alone or in committee.
